We immensely appreciated the hospitality of Dean and Sherri at the Kona Hula House.

Activities In Kona! Lanihau Center Car Night
The Lanihau Center, which is just a short walk or even shorter drive from the Kona Hula Girl, partitions off a portion of their parking lot on or about the third Saturday of every month and holds an event. The most recent event was the Lanihau Center Car Night which included some pretty cool cars. For being on an island we were pretty lucky to get as many as we did in my opinion. I should also note that there were more cars there than I have pictured here.
The Lanihau Center is, I guess, a strip mall of sorts where you can go shopping get groceries, banking and other sorts of things. There is no cost for the event! It is always nice to find a free or cheap activity!

More Dining in Kona - Mahi's is a new absolutely delicious restaurant
I only took one picture of the dining area of Mahi's but is is absolutely delicious for a price you can't beat. The service was amazing and very quick. When I walked in I was under the impression I would need to order at the counter but that wasn't so. You find a place to sit and your server comes out within minutes. The menu's are already on the table for you.
My recommendation would be either the Mahi's Signature Beer Battered Fish'n Chips for $6.99 or the Mahi's Famous Fish Tacos for $8.99 but that is because that is all I have tried so far. The fish is wonderful! The menu is simple, easy and include's none fish items as well. This is a sure bet!

Dining in Kona - Huggo's
If you are looking for a nice place to dine in Kona then Huggo's is a great suggestion. The views are spectacular as you can see here and I've also included a picture of the inside to give you an idea of what it looks like. If you go for dinner you will want to stay for the sunset for sure.
Interesting note, the restaurant is built out over the beach so it runs right up against the ocean. Since it was built before they made rules around where you could put buildings it is grandfathered in but you can no longer build this close to the ocean. So it is a great experience to be able to still sit so close to the water.

Coffee and Shopping In Kona
Just a short walk (10 minutes or less) from the Kona Hula Girl is a bustling coffee shop called Lava Java. Get a morning coffee and a front row seat view of the ocean.
From there, just 5 minutes up the road is the Kona Marketplace and the Kona Shopping Village. If you can get yourself away from the beach or just want a nice relaxing day to shop and eat this is the place!
And if you decide that you should have gone to the beach instead, that is not problem because there is a beach right next to the shopping by the pier.
This piece of paradise has lots to offer!...
